Journalism has so many aspects that Arvian loves, but for him it’s about the adventure and stories that come with it. As a researcher, he has learned more about how valuable and fragile our environment is.

Chantal Prescod wants to be a journalist so that she can come as close as possible to the people and stories that affect us most. Prescod has a multifaceted background with a broad knowledge of global issues and pop culture. For this project, she worked as a researcher.
Fun Fact: She grew up watching Barbara Walters.
Clarees enjoys being behind cameras as much as in front of her computer. She believes having these skills and being involved with May Contain Plastic will really help her transfer her skills into the work environment.
Fun Fact: She has a strong love for editing and cinematography.
Delisha has looked at the consumption of plastic use and microbeads in personal skin care products. She wants to raise awareness about our environment and what we can do as a community to build a healthier world.
Fun Fact: She is energetic and down to earth.
Domenic is in the Journalism Broadcast program because he loves the thrill of being under pressure and living on the edge. He is a writer for the Plasticipolis section of May Contain Plastic.
Fun Fact: He loves Justin Bieber.
Gaston collected research and wrote for May Contain Plastic. He chose Journalism Broadcast because being in front of a camera has always been his passion.
Fun Fact: He is trilingual and is an avid soccer fanatic.
Camera and Editor
Gerald has been going to Sheridan College for the past three years. He started with the one-year Media Fundamentals program and is now finishing up in the Journalism Broadcast program.
Fun Fact: He enjoys camping and Improv.
Herrmann is passionate about war journalism and has always wanted to be a war correspondent. She left everything behind and came to Canada to pursue her dream of one day becoming a successful journalist.
Fun Fact: She can speak three languages- English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Venturing out to various locations such as Gull Island, the Halton Waste Management Site and the Toronto Zoo, Hillary’s goal was to capture the amount of plastic and waste humans consume and show its effects on wildlife.
Fun Fact: She has a love for all animals, especially her cat Zeus.
Jaydeen created graphics for the May Contain Plastic site. He grew up playing and watching sports and would love to break into the sports broadcasting industry.
Fun Fact: He loves the Patriots.
Josh worked on graphics for the site.
Fun Fact: He loves cars.
Kavya has captured a variety of photos and video for this project including plastic waste found in our community, alternatives for plastic, and photos of where our garbage ends up.
Fun Fact: ‘Kavya’ means epic.
Using her previous education in graphic design, Kelsey has contributed to the appearance of the website. Creating infographics are a fun way to merge both her love of design and knowledge together.
Fun Fact: She enjoys relaxing activities such as painting and gardening.
Krystal Des Vignes
Krystal has contributed a lot of new and creative ideas to the website layout, working closely with our researchers. Krystal wanted to take Journalism because she’s inspired by the fact that she can contribute to better public understanding and appreciation of issues, people, and places.
Fun Fact: She’s a singer and has had her song play on Flow 93.5.
Kyle conducted interviews with experts in the plastic industry for the website. He chose journalism to provide a voice for those who are in need. His favourite quote was written on the Philadelphia Flyers’ whiteboard by coach Freddie “Fog” Shero: “If you don’t want criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.”
Fun Fact: He is a sports fanatic.
Max is interested in radio and podcasting, and, since starting in the Journalism Broadcast program, the production of a successful news broadcast. Max tends to work behind the scenes and we were unable to capture his image.
Fun Fact: He has strong love and appreciation for music.
Michael has written about plastic consumption and how we are affected globally by plastic pollution and what different countries are doing to prevent plastic pollution.
Fun Fact: He was a very involved in theatre growing up.
Mollie has helped build an online presence for May Contain Plastic. From Facebook to Twitter to Periscope and everything in between! She hopes to see this website have an impact on our carbon footprint, and make a difference in the world.
Fun Fact: Mollie loves the country, being with family, friends and her cat!
Muluba believes it is in all our best interests to be kept informed. She is a researcher for May Contain Plastic and has been collecting her plastic (water bottles) usage for 3 weeks, turns out Muluba uses too much plastic!
Fun Fact: She is passionate about social justice issues, health, family, self-love, and online shopping.
Camera and Editor
Nate has always enjoyed filming and editing and that is what he focused on for this project, working in the field with our reporters.
Fun Fact: He was born on the cusp and therefore, has no astrological sign.
Neil gathered information on plastic in landfills and how it’s recycled. He wants to become a journalist because he feels there’s always more than one angle to a story, and more need to be shared.
Fun Fact: He has a crippling World of Warcraft addiction and is planning to seek help as soon as he graduates.
Olivia is in the Journalism Broadcast program and would love to become an on-air fashion journalist.
Fun Fact: She is a fashion blogger and a beauty YouTuber.
Quintin is passionate about the journalism program and loves having the opportunity to take his audience on a journey.
Fun Fact: Both of his pets were rescued.
Along with our instructors, Rachael has been overseeing the production of our website. Rachael wants to learn as much as she can about a variety of different topics, and believes that the Journalism program has opened her mind to so many new things!
Fun Fact: She always wanted to be a veterinarian. She has a deep love for animals.
Ryan Chong Tai
Ryan loves to tell stories. He believes that at any given moment, there is always something happening in the world that’s worth knowing about. His focused on The Impact On Animals section of the website.
Fun Fact: He’s an amateur journalist (aspiring) and professional surfer (Internet).
Shanice loves music, entertainment, alongside editing and media studies. As a web designer for My Contain Plastic, she created a variety of graphics for the project.
Fun Fact: She believes that life is more fun when others smile.
As a reporter for May Contain Plastic, Tanja looked at the impact plastic has on Polar Bears.
Fun Fact: She has a soft spot for animals, especially puppies.
Tariq Mashal is one of the two project coordinators for May Contain Plastic. Besides working closely with the instructors and his team in developing the platform, he also created the plastic bag monster.
Fun Fact: He is a very hyper individual and can be a little crazy at times.
Taylor is in charge of spreading the word about this project’s awesome website via social media. Even though Taylor is very serious about her career path, she enjoys making fun memories along the way.
Fun Fact: She loves to make people laugh and she is really good at it.
Tazin is not the type of person who can sit in a cubicle all day every day and live a monotonous life. For this project, her role was to find information on animals who are affected by plastic.
Fun Fact: She has four Huskies.
